A Provincial private moorage moratorium has been in place since 2021 within the waterways south of Gabriola, down past the Gulf Islands and onto the west side of the W̱SÁNEĆ peninsula. This moratorium restricts private landowners from installing new moorages, including docks, boat ramps, and boat lifts. The moratorium is set to expire in August 2025.
