Malahat Nation Lands & Environment department has been working to create a policy to guide assigning addresses for future buildings on Malahat lands, resolving current address issues, and naming of roads and community buildings as they are developed. Update: Provincial Private Moorage Moratorium

A Provincial private moorage moratorium has been in place since 2021 within the waterways south of Gabriola, down past the Gulf Islands and onto the west side of the W̱SÁNEĆ peninsula. This moratorium restricts private landowners from installing new moorages, including docks, boat ramps, and boat lifts. The moratorium expired in August.
